About The Position

KTXL-FOX40 in Sacramento is seeking a motivated, self-starting team player to join our newsroom in a dynamic, multi-faceted role. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and is eager to expand their skills across multiple areas of news operations. The ideal candidate will have experience producing television newscasts, outstanding communication and organizational skills, and a passion for local news. In this role, you will serve as a backup newscast producer, learn to produce content for our growing CTV platform, coordinate interviews and guests as a morning show booker, and serve as a key point of contact for the public by greeting and escorting studio guests and managing incoming newsroom calls. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is adaptable, detail-oriented, and excited to contribute to a newsroom that values teamwork, innovation, and audience engagement. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Requirements

  • Experience producing television newscasts

  • Edit video and audio on industry standard equipment

Responsibilities

  • Produce a newscast for broadcast and our CTV app
  • Search wire services, network feeds, websites, and social media to find relevant material for newscasts
  • Write clear, concise, conversational news stories
  • Research and brainstorm story ideas, present ideas in editorial meetings
  • Post and update stories to station website and social media sites, engage viewers
  • Communicate with the web staff during breaking news
  • Assist producers in formatting other newscasts
  • Coordinate interviews and guests as a morning show booker
  • Greet and escort studio guests
  • Manage incoming newsroom calls
