About The Position

WAFB is seeking a versatile Multimedia Journalist to report, shoot, write, edit, and present compelling stories across broadcast, digital, social, streaming, and emerging platforms. The journalist will pursue distinctive stories, respond quickly to breaking news, and produce accurate, engaging coverage that serves the community. The role calls for strong news judgment, curiosity, and a competitive spirit, along with the ability to learn and confidently use tools in the breaking news studio. The journalist will adapt as technology and audience habits evolve, helping WAFB reach audiences where and when they want its journalism.

Primary duties and responsibilities are not limited to those described in the posting. The position is based at WAFB-TV, a CBS affiliate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Gray Media is a multimedia company headquartered in Atlanta and operates television stations and digital assets across the United States.

Requirements

• College degree in journalism, communications, or a related field.
• Strong reporting, writing, interviewing, and storytelling skills.
• Demonstrated ability, or clear potential, to report, shoot, and edit video in a fast-paced newsroom.
• Strong news judgment, accuracy, and ability to work under deadline pressure.
• Interest and ability in producing content for broadcast, digital, social, and streaming audiences.
• Willingness to learn new technology and work with tools used in a breaking news studio.
• Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime as news coverage requires.
• Valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
