About The Position

UN Women seeks a Multimedia and Digital Asset Management Support Consultant to provide on-site multimedia coverage (still photography or in-studio video recording), optimization and delivery of multimedia assets, and to prepare, assess, optimize, upload and distribute digital assets, including photos, videos, and multimedia content. The role may include photo optimizing, light video editing, image research, responding to internal/external asset research requests, correspondence with UN Women country and regional communications officers, and day-to-day maintenance of the Digital Asset Management System (DAMS). The role would report to the Photographer/Photo Editor and collaborate with the Multimedia Specialist and a Digital Asset Management Consultant to support the creation and organization of UN Women’s assets in a secure, centralized repository with consistent metadata usage, compliance with security standards, and ease of content reusability.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in multimedia, visual design, photography, videography or related field is required.
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Fluency in oral and written English is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in photography, videography, communications or information science would be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of any other UN official language is an asset.
  • Familiarity with gender issues is an important asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support with metadata management of digital assets within the UN Women Multimedia Library, including uploading and reviewing photos, videos and design files.
  • Photo and video coverage and editing of events, bilateral meetings, video messages and other requested assignments, in digital original of UN Women activities as directed by the Communications and Advocacy Division or delegated focal points. In-office presence for adhoc requests required. Scheduling of these requests and preparation of equipment and studio required.
  • Be present in-office on all workdays to be available for coverage requests and submit deliverables for assignments on a same-day basis. Photography assignments should include metadata in all photographs and a selection the best photographs edited and optimized in high resolution according to provided workflow. Video assignments will include setup, filming and light editing. Most assignments are expected to occur on premises at UN Women offices.
  • Organize digital assets, including photos, videos and design files, implementing best practices for file naming, classification, metadata tagging and searchability, as per provided Guidelines.
  • Assist with review of digital assets for quality and compliance with UN Women standards, including preliminary proofreading of captions and metadata.
  • Apply UN Women’s technical, ethical and editorial standards with a goal of maximizing asset quality and maintaining organizational voice.
  • Assist digital asset inventory, usage and permissions, as requested.
  • Assist with other tasks as required by the supervisor.
