About The Position

This is a Title III-funded supplemental position designed to enhance, not replace, core instructional services. This role focuses on supporting implementation, strengthening instructional practices, and improving outcomes for emergent bilingual students through data-driven support and collaboration. The Multilingual Literacy & Language Coordinator provides supplemental instructional support to improve English language acquisition and academic literacy for emergent bilingual students in grades 9–12. This position focuses on accelerating student achievement through content-based language instruction, literacy support, and data-driven practices aligned with campus and district goals. This role supports the implementation and facilitation of district and campus initiatives by modeling effective instructional practices, reinforcing literacy and language priorities, and supporting campuses in strengthening systems for student success. A primary focus of this position is to model and support the implementation of Content- Based Language Instruction (CBLI) to ensure students can access rigorous academic content while developing language proficiency. The position also plays a key role in strengthening progress monitoring systems, data reporting, and family engagement, particularly in supporting awareness of academic progress, accountability measures, and postsecondary readiness. This position operates in a high-demand, fast-paced, multi-campus environment and is focused on driving measurable improvements in student outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid Texas ESL certification - Required
  • Valid Secondary English teaching certification (preferred)
  • Literacy / ELAR Teaching Experience Preferred - English / Literacy Preferred
  • Qualifications Experience in elementary or middle school literacy instruction, including foundational reading skills
  • Background in structured literacy or reading intervention programs
  • Experience supporting emergent bilingual students at the secondary level
  • Experience supporting family engagement or student-focused events
  • Strong understanding of second language acquisition
  • Knowledge of Content-based Language Instruction (CBLI)
  • Knowledge of secondary literacy development and intervention strategies
  • Ability to model and support job-embedded instructional practices
  • Strong ability to analyze, interpret, and communicate student data
  • Technology skills proficiency in digital classroom platforms such as Google Classroom, use of interactive learning tools like Kahoot! to enhance student participation, and ability to create engaging multimedia instructional content using tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint.
  • Experience developing data systems, dashboards, or progress monitoring tools
  • Ability to translate data into clear, actionable insights

Responsibilities

  • Model, support, and reinforce campus implementation of Content-Based Language Instruction (CBLI) across content areas
  • Provide job-embedded training and modeling of strategies that integrate language development with academic content
  • Demonstrate effective practices in: academic vocabulary development, reading comprehension strategies, and writing across content areas
  • Model and support small-group and station-based instructional approaches
  • Support campuses in differentiating instruction for newcomer and long-term emergent bilingual students
  • Collaborate with teachers to align CBLI practices with core instruction
  • Support the implementation and facilitation of district and campus initiatives related to emergent bilingual student achievement
  • Reinforce instructional practices aligned to district expectations and program goals
  • Collaborate with campus and district staff to ensure consistency in literacy and language supports
  • Provide feedback on implementation effectiveness to support continuous improvement
  • Utilize multiple data sources (e.g., TELPAS, STAAR/EOC, local assessments) to identify student needs, monitor progress, and inform instructional support
  • Develop and maintain progress monitoring systems to track student growth
  • Adjust support strategies based on ongoing data analysis
  • Demonstrate measurable impact on student outcomes, including growth in English language proficiency and improvement in literacy performance
  • Align support efforts with campus and district accountability goals
  • Design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive progress monitoring system to track student growth in language proficiency and literacy across campuses
  • Develop and manage structured student-level data reports and dashboards that monitor performance trends, intervention effectiveness, and progress toward academic goals
  • Collaborate with the Director of Accountability and campus leadership to align data systems, reporting structures, and performance indicators with district accountability expectations
  • Analyze and synthesize data (TELPAS, STAAR/EOC, local assessments, intervention data) to identify trends, gaps, and areas of need
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for campus leaders, teachers, district staff, students, and families
  • Provide regular data updates and reports to support monitoring of implementation effectiveness and student outcomes
  • Support campuses in using data to evaluate and refine literacy and language supports
  • Support campuses and the district in engaging emergent bilingual families through communication, resources, and events throughout the year
  • Promote understanding or College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR), Career and Technical Education (CTE) pathways, and graduation requirement and postsecondary opportunities
  • Support communication that builds family awareness of student progress, accountability systems, and academic expectations
  • Assist campuses in strengthening family engagement efforts tied to student achievement and postsecondary readiness.
  • Collaborate with the Curriculum & Instruction department and campuses to ensure consistency in CBLI implementation and literacy support practices
  • Participate in data meetings and planning sessions aligned to campus and district goals
  • Share strategies aligned to literacy and language development as needed
