About The Position

The Dual Language and Multilingual Education Liaison is a .58 FTE position that reports to the MLE Administrator and currently serves the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District and Pelham Elementary School District. This role works closely with the MLE Administrator, school staff, students, and families. The liaison supports program implementation, compliance, communication, family engagement, biliteracy initiatives, and instructional systems across the two districts. The position may expand to 1.0 FTE and include service to the Amherst Elementary School District following approval by the Amherst School Committee.

Requirements

  • Valid Massachusetts English as a Second Language (ESL/ELL) teaching license.
  • Three to five years of experience in a teaching role or a role requiring similar experience.

Responsibilities

  • Implementation of multilingual learner services across the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District and Pelham Elementary School District.
  • Assist with interpreter program oversight, including recruitment, scheduling, communication, and support for interpreters and interpreter paraeducators.
  • Support intake screening, student documentation, placement procedures, and compliance-related processes.
  • Communicate timelines and support teachers with required multilingual learner paperwork and reporting.
  • Support ACCESS Test Coordinator, including scheduling, communication, and accommodations.
  • Support planning for MCAS accommodations for English Learners.
  • Support school-based ELL teams, teachers, and administrators with service delivery and problem-solving.
  • Assist new ELL teachers with technology, procedures, and access to training.
  • Support management of Project ELL and other data systems in collaboration with the Multilingual Education Administrator and Administrative Assistant.
  • Co-plan staff meetings, training, and professional development related to multilingual learners and effective practices for working with ELs.
  • Meet with the Multilingual Education Administrator weekly.
  • Attend monthly meetings with school-based Biliteracy Coordinators.
  • Oversee staff, family, and student communication regarding the Seal of Biliteracy and Biliteracy Pathway Awards.
  • Organize biliteracy club logistics and ensure communication with students and families.
  • Coordinate biliteracy club staff, volunteers, transportation, and supplies.
  • Coordinate biliteracy assessment, including: scheduling testing sessions with providers such as STAMP, ALTA, and portfolio assessors managing testing logistics communicating with students and families about the testing process, dates, and results compiling assessment data to determine awards
  • Coordinate parent outreach for meetings, events, and ongoing communication.
  • Schedule, plan logistics for, and facilitate MPAC meetings.
  • Maintain regular communication with the Multilingual Education Administrator and Administrative Assistant.
  • Support parents in creating events and programs that benefit bilingual students and families in the Amherst-Pelham Regional School District and Pelham Elementary School District.
