About The Position

Empower Me is seeking dynamic, community-driven, team players ready to hit the ground running. Empower Me Multilingual Community Outreach Facilitators (Energy Mentors) promote and implement Empower Me; an energy savings program designed for multi-lingual communities in the Toronto and Mississauga regions. Empower Me Energy Multilingual Community Outreach Facilitators are selected based on their roles and influence in these communities. They are trained to help their community reduce their energy usage, and improve home safety, health, and comfort. This is an hourly, part-time position, including some business hours as well as evenings and weekends. This role is a hybrid role. The ideal candidate has experience working with community organizations and understands the unique needs and requirements of their own communities and cultures. They are positive, enthusiastic, and able to maintain calm under pressure. They are well connected within these immigrant communities and interested in making an impact through their own networks. Professional spoken fluency in English and at least one addition language from the following is required: Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Ukrainian, or Russian. Multilingual Community Outreach Facilitators are expected to lead workshops, answer participant questions and explain practical program information. Speaking multiple languages is considered an asset.

Requirements

  • Comfortable with public speaking and giving presentations.
  • Working ability to use email, Office 365 applications, online meetings, and web-based forms.
  • Excellent English skills – speak, read and write.
  • Able to work independently with little supervision.
  • Must have own transportation with valid driver’s license.
  • Professional spoken fluency in English and at least one addition language from the following: Mandarin, Cantonese, Tagalog, Ukrainian, or Russian.

Nice To Haves

  • Connections to community groups and associations within the regions.
  • Outreach, networking or sales experience.
  • Work or volunteer experience with community-level groups.
  • Experience as a workshop facilitator, teacher experience, public speaker, LINC or ESL instructor, or in a similar instructional or presentation role is considered a strong asset.
  • Organization and planning skills.
  • Familiarity with energy, sustainability, and conservation or willingness to learn.
  • Speaking multiple languages is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct workshops with community groups online and in person.
  • Promote the Empower Me program within your community.
  • Plan and attend community events as a representative of Empower Me.
  • Report on relevant experiences working as a Community Outreach Facilitator.
  • Maintain accurate records through data entry and record keeping.
