About The Position

Strive Centre Vancouver is seeking Recreation & Outreach Facilitators (Casual/On-call) to fill uncovered shifts. These shifts will occur between Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. The role involves working within the recreation and outreach team to support adults with developmental disabilities, concurrent disorders, FASD, Autism, ABI, and mental health issues. Responsibilities include group and one-to-one support, community connection, linking participants to resources, assisting individuals in the community and their homes, teaching life skills, community integration, and social skills. Strive is a non-profit registered charity providing residential and community inclusion support since 1988.

Requirements

Criminal Record Clearance, Ministry of Justice
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position
Eligibility to work in Canada
First Aid and CPR Certificate
Food Safe Certificate
2 professional references
Awareness of and respect for the human rights of persons-in care
Demonstrates ability to work effectively with individuals, injuries, and/or complex health care needs
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive rapport with individuals with disabilities
Knowledge of community resources
Interpersonal, leadership and team building skills; take direction and accept constructive criticism
Respect for professional boundaries
Ability to work independently, take initiative and is self-motivated
Organization and time management abilities. Meets deadlines and prioritizes workload.
Oral and written communication skills
Ability to act in accordance with established policies and procedures in the event of emergencies
Familiarity with computers and proficiency in Microsoft Office
The ability to accept change and adapt to a variety of assignments
