About The Position

Under general direction, the Multidisciplinary Victim's Case Manager provides advanced case management, crisis intervention, and holistic advocacy services to crime victims. This role supports individuals impacted by family violence, sexual assault, stalking, human trafficking, and other serious offenses. This professional position coordinates directly across local government departments, municipal courts, county prosecutors, health networks, and nonprofit coalitions. The position requires a trauma-informed, multidisciplinary approach to ensure victim safety, support autonomy, and navigate state-mandated victims' rights.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Sociology, or a closely related human services field.
  • Five (5) years of professional experience in victim advocacy, crisis intervention, or social service case management.
  • Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to obtain the Texas Victim Assistance Training (TVAT) certification within two (2) months of employment.
  • Deep familiarity with Texas laws regarding crime victims' rights, protective orders, and family law dynamics.
  • Advanced skill in crisis counseling, lethality assessments, and managing high-stress situations with empathy, confidentiality, and professional boundaries.
  • Strong verbal and written skills to draft detailed case updates, advocate effectively across distinct legal and medical systems, and testify in court if required.
  • Competency using standard office software and specialized police or social service database tracking systems.
  • Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.
  • Must pass a comprehensive criminal background check, including fingerprinting, required for municipal law enforcement support personnel.
  • This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee’s physical presence at the workplace.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working alongside law enforcement or within a Texas legal framework is highly preferred.
  • Preferred specialized training: Texas OAG Presumptive Eligibility (PE) and Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) Advocate training: Family violence, sexual-assault and Human-trafficking Crisis intervention, stalking response and mental health first aid

Responsibilities

  • Responds to crime scenes, hospitals, or police department to deliver immediate crisis intervention and safety planning.
  • Acts as the primary liaison between the victim and a network of partners, including police detectives, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), the County District Attorney’s Office, and medical professionals.
  • Educates victims on their statutory rights under the Texas Code of Criminal Procedure and guides them through the municipal and state criminal justice systems.
  • Assists victims with filing for Protective Orders, Crime Victims’ Compensation (CVC), and specialized state safety measures like the Texas Attorney General’s Address Confidentiality Program (ACP).
  • Facilitates victim participation in interviews with investigators, provides accompaniment to court proceedings, and gathers necessary medical or situational documentation to support complex case review teams.
  • Participates in multi-agency, and/or multi-disciplinary meetings and coordinated-response initiatives.
  • Develops and delivers presentations and training for Police Department personnel, community organizations, and citizen groups regarding victim assistance and victimology.
  • Delivers public education regarding victim resources.
  • Maintains highly confidential, detailed electronic case records in compliance with local city ordinances, state public information laws, and specialized grant requirements.
  • Assist with grant applications, compliance and program evaluations.
