Toyota Research Institute (TRI) is seeking an intern researcher for its Accelerated Materials Design and Discovery (AMDD) program. AMDD aims to accelerate the development of emissions-free mobility by combining computational materials modeling, experimental data, artificial intelligence, and automation to advance materials and devices for batteries, fuel cells, and related technologies. The team collaborates with universities, national laboratories, and Toyota colleagues worldwide. The intern will contribute to automated reasoning with multiscale physics-based battery models. The work includes benchmarking the model against existing multiscale modeling software, incorporating fundamental materials knowledge, and integrating methods for automated scientific reasoning. Day-to-day work will involve developing and researching multiscale physics models, with opportunities to work at the intersection of materials science and AI. This is a paid, 12-week, hybrid, in-office internship.
