Toyota Research Institute (TRI) is hiring a paid intern researcher for a 12-week, hybrid, in-office internship. The role is part of TRI’s Accelerated Materials Design and Discovery (AMDD) program, which aims to accelerate the development of emissions-free mobility by advancing materials and devices for batteries, fuel cells, and other applications. AMDD combines computational materials modeling, experimental data, artificial intelligence, and automation, and works with universities, national labs, and Toyota colleagues worldwide. The intern will contribute to automated reasoning with multiscale physics-based battery models. The work includes benchmarking models against existing multiscale modeling software, incorporating fundamental materials knowledge, and integrating methods for automated scientific reasoning. Day-to-day work includes building and researching multiscale physics models, analyzing experimental battery data, and collaborating with scientists and engineers at the interface of materials science and AI.
