About The Position

As a Multimedia Journalist, you will assist with various aspects of news production, including shooting, writing, editing, and publishing content. You will also be responsible for coordinating and conducting interviews and representing the station in community events. As a News Producer, you will develop and organize local newscasts, write stories, showcase content, and oversee live broadcasts with up-to-the-minute editorial decisions. You will work closely with the News Director, Assignment Editor, and MMJs to determine content needs and enhance newscast content with graphics, video, research, and station branding. Other responsibilities include writing clearly for multiple platforms and posting content to the station website.

Requirements

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Passion for great visual storytelling.
  • Ability to write clearly for Television broadcasts.
  • Energetic, experienced journalist who works well in an often-fast paced, deadline oriented environment.
  • Strong written, organization, communication and writing skills.
  • Keen editorial judgment and ability to handle breaking news.
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated creative skills, editorial judgment, journalistic ethics and libel laws.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, or related field.
  • Must be fluent in Spanish (high level of reading, writing, and speaking the language is essential).
  • Must have strong English, reading, writing and speaking skills.
  • Reporting, shooting, writing, and editing experience with a good ratings track record.
  • Be informed on news events locally and nationally.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of INews and Adobe Premiere editing software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Developing interesting story ideas using strong editorial judgment.
  • Assisting in coordinating interviews and logistics for field crews.
  • Facilitating the news gathering process and ensuring comprehensive coverage of all news stories across all platforms.
  • Developing enterprise story ideas consistent with the Entravision news brand.
  • Cultivating contacts important to news coverage in the market, including law enforcement.
  • Writing compelling stories for newscasts.
  • Calling sources and following up on leads, identifying the most compelling video and sound.
  • Mastering the station’s graphics system and using all available information and media to craft compelling and accurate daily stories on-line and on air.
  • Working closely with fellow producers, anchors, reporters, and control room operators to ensure technically flawless newscasts.
