Multi-Axis Machinist - 2nd Shift

Roush Yates Racing Engines•Mooresville, NC

About The Position

Roush Yates is seeking a skilled Multi-Axis Machinist for 2nd shift. The machinist operates, proves, and troubleshoots established five-axis machining processes, managing risks associated with rotary motion, machine kinematics, tool and fixture clearance, complex work offsets, and multi-surface inspection. The position requires working within assigned and documented authority to establish safe motion, adjust offsets and compensation, troubleshoot process issues, and support inspection before production release.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of five-axis rotary configurations, work planes, kinematics, and machine envelopes.
  • Knowledge of TCP, DWO, probing, work-offset, and compensation concepts applicable to assigned controls.
  • Knowledge of collision avoidance, safe prove-out, and recovery practices.
  • Advanced blueprint reading, GD&T, tooling, workholding, and process troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of first-piece and first-article documentation.
  • Must meet at least one of the stated minimum vision standards, corrected or uncorrected: Snellen 14/18, 20/25 or better, Jaeger Type 2 at 14 inches, or Ortho-Rated 8.
  • For ITAR compliance, must be a U.S. person: U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, asylee, or refugee.

Responsibilities

  • Operate authorized Makino DA300, Haas UMC-750, and Haas UMC-1000 equipment according to model-specific procedures.
  • Review programs, setup documentation, tool lists, workholding, probing routines, offsets, rotary positions, machine limits, and inspection requirements before starting a cycle.
  • Evaluate clamping, fixture interference, tool reach, holder clearance, rotary travel, machine envelope, and collision exposure.
  • Use graphics, dry run, single block, distance-to-go, feed controls, and approved prove-out methods to establish safe motion on an existing or revised process within assigned authority.
  • Establish, verify, and adjust work offsets, tool geometry, and dimensional or tool-wear compensation within documented authority.
  • Recognize and troubleshoot symptoms involving work offsets, probing, tooling, rotary positioning, kinematics, finish, chatter, repeatability, and feature relationships.
  • Complete or support first-piece and first-article inspection, and document all corrections before releasing production.
