About The Position

The MTSS Scholar Success Teacher provides targeted academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support to identified scholars. This position focuses on accelerating scholar achievement through intervention, relationship-building, progress monitoring, and collaboration with school staff and families to reduce barriers to learning and improve scholar outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Current appropriate Michigan teaching certification
  • Ability to deal with scholars, parents, staff, and community in a tactful and courteous manner
  • Demonstrated understanding of current research as to how children learn and the ability to motivate scholar to perform at their best.
  • Ability to work in an economically, culturally, and racially diverse environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language, both orally and in writing
  • Ability to differentiate instruction, by using a variety of styles, and inspire mixed culture and ability classes by creating challenging and engaging learning opportunities for all scholars.
  • Ability to participate as a member of the team.
  • Ability to manage a diverse and demanding workload.
  • Regular on time and in person attendance is an essential function of this job.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver supplemental instruction and intervention services aligned to scholar academic and behavioral goals.
  • Identify and support at-risk scholars through individualized and small-group interventions.
  • Monitor scholar progress using assessment data and intervention tracking tools.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, interventionists, counselors, and administrators to coordinate scholar supports.
  • Develop and implement intervention plans that address academic, attendance, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation required for Section 31a compliance and reporting.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding scholar progress, supports, and available resources.
  • Support positive behavior strategies and restorative practices within the school environment.
  • Assist in connecting scholars and families to school and community-based resources.
  • Participate in and contribute to professional development, implement strategies learned with fidelity.
  • Make and maintain regular, positive contact with parents via phone calls, email and/or home visits including communicating scholar progress.
  • Establish and maintain effective written and oral communication and rapport with scholars, parents, and colleagues.
  • Participate in parent meetings and Parent/Teacher Conferences.
  • Contribute to the development of a positive attitude between the school and the wider community through cooperative relations, publications, competitions, etc.
  • Contribute to community service and global citizenship goals.
  • Serve as a role model for all scholars and within school community.
  • Interact with co-workers, administration, scholars, parents, and the community in positive, supportive, and cooperative ways.
  • Encourage the team spirit and contribute as a team member in the decision-making processes of the school as facilitated by the building administrator.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Contribute to extra-curricular activities and school programs, including recess duty as part of a collaborative rotation.
  • Maintain and promote school district goals and objectives.
  • Comply with state, federal and District policies, procedures, rules, and the union contract.
  • Consistently demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
