About The Position

The Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Coach implements equitable scholar outcomes by strengthening literacy, language development, and instructional practices schoolwide. This position also supports targeted interventions, monitors scholar progress, and uses data to inform instruction and close achievement gaps. The coach partners with teachers to embed rigorous, standards-aligned instruction with academic language and structured discourse, while providing professional development and feedback. The MTSS coach will focus on developing continuous improvement efforts to ensure all scholars access high-quality instruction and demonstrate measurable growth.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in education or related field.
  • Current Michigan teaching certification in elementary or secondary education (6-12) for the assigned content area.
  • Minimum of five (5) years successful teaching experience with an effective or highly effective evaluation rating.
  • Must have completed or is willing to complete professional learning addressing the following: coaching practices, adult learning practices, understanding the standards, assessment literacy, backwards mapping from the standard and assessment literacy, Professional Learning Communities, differentiated instruction, observation protocols and have knowledge with programs such as Word, Power Point and Excel.

  • Experience with planning, facilitating, and measuring the impact of professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Support and monitor small-group intervention structures prioritizing scholars with significant literacy and language development needs.
  • Develop and maintain systems to track assess outcomes, and intervention effectiveness.
  • Partner with teachers to embed content and language objectives, academic vocabulary, and structured discourse routines into daily instruction.
  • Facilitate structured common planning time meetings focused on co-planning lessons that intentionally align standards, language objectives, text complexity, structured scholar discourse, and writing tasks.
  • Design and deliver professional development on culturally responsive practices, and strategies for integrating academic development.
  • Conduct instructional walkthroughs and provide feedback to strengthen implementation of content integration practices and equitable scholar participation.
  • Analyze schoolwide assessment and classroom data to identify achievement gaps and design responsive instructional and intervention plans.
  • Lead and align schoolwide improvement efforts to ensure learners have equitable access to rigorous instruction, measurable growth, and full participation in the academic program.
  • Consistently demonstrate dependable attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Compensation is determined by a structured salary schedule. The starting salary is based on the candidate’s degree level and verified years of licensed or certificated experience.
