About The Position

This is a 1.0 FTE continuing contract position for a K-12 Humanities MTSS Instructional Coach TOSA (Teacher On Special Assignment) that begins with the 2026-27 school year. Preference will be given to candidates that currently have an ELL, ESOL, or Bilingual endorsement. SIOP training and GLAD training offered by the Multilingual Education Department will be required for all new employees unless they can show evidence of having completed SIOP and GLAD training previously. Training will need to be completed within the first year of employment. Aligned with the district's Strategic Plan and commitment to equity, engagement, and excellence, the Humanities MTSS Instructional Coach serves as a K-12 systems leader focused on advancing responsive, inclusive, and student-centered instruction. The coach supports the implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) that ensures all students receive the challenge, support, and access they need to thrive. This role blends instructional leadership, professional development, and collaborative systems design. Coaches work with teachers, school leaders, and district teams to strengthen Tiered instruction, build collective educator capacity, and drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning.

Requirements

  • Washington State Teaching Certificate with an endorsement in Social Studies or English Language Arts (ELA).
  • At least five (5) years of teaching experience.

  • Knowledge and experience implementing equitable teaching practices.
  • Experiences and understanding in leading or coaching adult learners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support implementation of tiered supports that provide both academic challenge and targeted support.
  • Partner with school and district teams to ensure Tiered instruction is inclusive, rigorous, and aligned with student needs.
  • Promote instructional practices that develop student agency, critical thinking, and ownership of learning.
  • Coach culturally responsive, inclusionary instructional practices across K-12 classrooms.
  • Support educators in helping students understand learning goals, monitor progress, and engage in reflection and goal setting.
  • Contribute to systems that integrate social-emotional learning with academic instruction.
  • Lead implementation of the district's K-12 instructional framework as a tool for reflection, feedback, and instructional growth.
  • Provide coaching and professional learning aligned to the framework and district priorities.
  • Guide content-area implementation of standards.
  • Promote mastery-based learning by supporting the use of assessment feedback loops and equitable grading practices.
  • Ensure vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment and support high-quality, student-centered instruction.
  • Assist teachers with instructional planning, modeling, co-teaching, and analysis of student work and data.
  • Will be responsible for leading curriculum adoption, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Design and facilitate professional learning for individuals, teams, and full staff groups.
  • Lead instructional teams that include K-12 teacher leaders focused on: Building shared understanding of instructional priorities, Aligning curriculum, instruction, and assessment, Scaling inclusive, student-centered strategies, Implementing district-supported curricular technology tools.
  • Build leadership capacity across schools and PLCs to support sustained improvement.
