About The Position

AMD Design, LLC, a subsidiary of AMD, Inc., is hiring an MTS Software Development Engineer to research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software for semiconductor operations. The role applies principles and techniques of computer science, engineering, and mathematical analysis and integrates content and releases test programs to high-volume manufacturing for next-generation AMD microprocessors. The position includes test planning, pattern conversion and debugging, silicon characterization and debugging, and data analysis. It correlates test solutions with lab, manufacturing, and customer platforms to validate product design, fabrication processes, packaging technology, and manufacturing robustness against product specifications. The engineer designs, develops, and/or manages product activities from definition and planning through production, release, and end of life, serving as a central resource across design, process, manufacturing, test, quality, and marketing. Involvement can continue through product modifications, upgrades, and maintenance. The role addresses problems of moderate scope, applying judgment within established company procedures to select methods and evaluation criteria. It uses knowledge and experience in Agile, Scrum, debugging, scripting languages, and semiconductor product development to plan product improvements that reduce cost, improve yield, and resolve quality issues. It also applies knowledge of computers and electronics, design techniques, tools, engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to company product design, development, and testing. Multiple openings are available. Travel is not required.

Requirements

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field, and two years of experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in one of those fields and five years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a closely related engineering role.
Two years of experience with hardware, software, and Graphics IP verification.
Two years of experience in Unix or Linux environments.
Two years of experience with Python.
Two years of experience with Git.
Two years of experience with data structures.
Two years of experience with Linux or Windows internals.
Two years of experience with server systems.
Two years of experience with virtualization.
Two years of experience with object-oriented design.
Two years of experience with multi-threading.
Two years of experience with OS development and open-source software development.
Two years of experience with software debugging on macOS, Linux, or Unix.
Two years of experience with Golang.

Responsibilities

Research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software for semiconductor operations.
Integrate content and release test programs to high-volume manufacturing for next-generation AMD microprocessors.
Perform test planning, pattern conversion, pattern debugging, silicon characterization and debugging, and data analysis.
Correlate test solutions to lab, manufacturing, and customer platforms to validate product design, fabrication process, packaging technology, and manufacturing robustness against product specifications.
Design, develop, and/or manage activities for products from definition and planning through production, release, and end of life.
Serve as a central resource for design, process, manufacturing, test, quality, and marketing as products move into production and distribution.
Support product modifications, upgrades, and maintenance throughout the product lifecycle.
Plan product improvement activities to reduce cost, improve yield, and resolve quality issues.
Apply engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to the design, development, and testing of company products.
