MTS Software Development Engineer

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc•Santa Clara, CA

About The Position

AMD is hiring MTS Software Development Engineers to research, design, develop, and/or test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for semiconductor operations. The role applies engineering principles and mathematical analysis to software development and testing. Responsibilities include designing, developing, troubleshooting, and debugging software programs for enhancements and new products; understanding and defining software requirements and architectures; and developing software and tools supporting design, infrastructure, and technology platforms. These platforms may include operating systems, compilers, routers, networks, utilities, databases, and cloud-based and internet-related tools. The position may also define proprietary platforms incorporating hardware and software components and drive software and systems solutions, including development and product definitions. The engineer works with cross-functional teams, including other engineers, on systems-level software and significant, unique issues requiring evaluation of complex situations or data. The role drives projects or processes of significant technical importance and exercises independent judgment in selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria, with little to no supervision. It uses knowledge of computers and electronics, engineering science and technology, engineering principles, best practices, and technologies to design, develop, and test AMD systems and products. No travel is required. Multiple openings are available.
