Medical Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientists perform complex laboratory tests on patient samples. They help interpret the data to identifying and treat different diseases.

Requirements

  • Must meet CLIA 88 requirements to perform moderate and highly complex testing
  • BLS required every 2 years
  • Exemplifies good customer service.
  • Regular reliable attendance.
  • Ability to get along with others.
  • Demonstrates proficient use of computers including MS office

Nice To Haves

  • MT: Certification as a medical technologist by an appropriate accrediting agency, ie., ASCP or equivalent, preferred.
  • MLT: Certified as a medical laboratory technician by accrediting agency: ASCP, AMT or equivalent, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Follows laboratory procedures in preanalytical, analytical, and for post analytical phases of laboratory testing.
  • Performs moderate and highly complex clinical laboratory procedures as authorized by Laboratory Director with precision and accuracy and verifies the results.
  • Calibrates, maintains, and trouble shoots instrumentation as needed.
  • Resolving technical problems and ensuring that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
  • Ensuring that patient test results are not reported until all actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
  • Monitoring the recording and reporting of test results through the laboratory information system.
  • Performance of instrument maintenance and function checks.
  • Assessment of test performance through testing previously analyzed specimens, internal blind testing samples or external proficiency testing samples.
  • Evaluating and documenting high complexity testing and reevaluated to include the use of the new test methodology or instrumentation.
  • Responsible for putting results into the laboratory information system and troubleshooting the system when it is not working.
  • Monthly reports including blood bank, laboratory statistics and cost transfers.
  • Performs Medical Laboratory Technician's essential job functions.
  • Performs duties as assigned.
