About The Position

Responsible for providing high-quality and engaging instruction and academic mentoring to students in the Master of Science Nursing (MSN) program at the Brookfield, WI, campus; developing, assessing, and assuring excellent pedagogy and curriculum design; promoting student achievement and academic integrity on behalf of the University; and collaboration with support services provided through campus units. Academic program development for program currency, growth, retention, and recruitment.

Requirements

  • Earned Doctorate in Nursing or earned Doctorate with earned master's degree in nursing.
  • 3-5 years related work experience.
  • Hold a current Wisconsin registered nurse license in good standing or multi-state privilege to practice in Wisconsin.
  • Experience with Blackboard or similar online course platforms.
  • Experience with Zoom, Skype, or WebEx.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with fellow university faculty as well as departments who support student life and academic achievement.
  • Proven ability to teach effectively in a post secondary classroom.
  • Ability to be flexible in adjusting to and responding to both student and local university needs and concerns.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching Load: 12 months; 10 courses (typically 30 credit hours) online, including Weekend Residency coverage.
  • Teach a combination of courses in the discipline, interdisciplinary and/or co-taught courses. This combination of courses is to be determined in collaboration among the School Dean, the Director of Nursing, the Program Director of Graduate Nursing Programs, and individual faculty.
  • Maintain a high standard in classroom teaching through engaging and effective pedagogy, exhibiting awareness and understanding of best practices in post secondary education through application in the classroom, and remaining current with issues, curriculum, and classroom approaches in both the liberal arts and the candidate’s academic discipline.
  • Attend to student needs and concerns, and work with each student’s advising team members to identify and develop opportunities for each individual learner.
  • Collaborate as needed in scheduling courses, addressing academic concerns, and supporting efforts in retention.
  • Maintain awareness of contemporary trends and evolving knowledge within one’s academic discipline and in the liberal arts through research, creative work, writing, conference attendance (either virtually or at designated location), public presentations (in-person and virtually), and other involvement in the regional and national community of higher education professionals.
  • Participate with faculty in governance issues related to curriculum and course development and revisions, including review of adjunct syllabi as assigned.
  • Collaborate as needed in scheduling courses and addressing academic concerns (such as, but not limited to, serving on an academic grievance committee).
  • Contribute to recruitment and retention efforts for campus growth and sustainability.
  • Participate in the interviewing process, orientation, mentoring, and development of new faculty as needed.
  • Participate in Campus and University-wide governance in responding to and engaging in dialogue related to academic issues across the university.
  • Participate in Campus and University-wide committee work, including on-going committees, program assessments, task-oriented committees or task forces, and other projects or committees as requested.
  • Maintain effective curricula through participation in university-wide assessment processes.
  • Abide by all rules and regulations contained in the University Faculty Handbook and the University Employment Policies Handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned.
