About The Position

Reed City Middle School is seeking two enthusiastic and dedicated coaches for the middle school girls basketball teams. These positions require individuals who are passionate about fostering athletic skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship among young athletes. Coaches will work closely with student-athletes to develop their basketball abilities, promote a positive team environment, and encourage personal growth both on and off the court.

Requirements

Previous coaching experience in basketball, preferably at the middle school or high school level.
Strong knowledge of basketball fundamentals, strategies, and rules.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire young athletes.
Ability to work effectively with students, parents, and school staff in a collaborative environment.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
Current CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain prior to the start of the season.
A commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.
Must pass a background check in accordance with school district policies.
Availability to work evenings and weekends during the basketball season.

Responsibilities

Plan and conduct daily basketball practices, focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategies.
Organize and oversee all aspects of the girls basketball program, including practices, games, and team events.
Provide instruction on basketball fundamentals, including shooting, passing, dribbling, defense, and teamwork.
Develop game strategies and communicate effectively with players during games.
Foster a positive and inclusive team culture that emphasizes respect, sportsmanship, and personal development.
Monitor and support the academic and personal growth of student-athletes.
Communicate regularly with parents, school administration, and other stakeholders regarding team progress and player development.
Assist in the coordination of transportation and logistics for games and events.
Ensure compliance with all school and league policies, including safety protocols and eligibility requirements.
Attend all scheduled games and practices, as well as any required meetings or training sessions.
