About The Position

The Metal Recovery Plant Manager is responsible for operating the plant as efficiently as possible by effectively maintaining operations, providing quality control, and supervising and scheduling personnel and material movements. All equipment maintenance will be monitored in order to address any issues and streamline processes. The Manager will ensure that all operations comply with safety and environmental regulations and best management practices, and that all employees are instructed and monitored in the safe operation of all machinery.

Requirements

  • B.A. Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Sustainable Engineering, Metallurgy, etc. preferred
  • 10 years relevant scrap industry/department MRP/Shredder) experience preferred.
  • Prior experience in similar metals or manufacturing operations.
  • Effective management skills and strategies when working with both union and non-union employees.
  • Must be able to communicate with and motivate the work force to assure completion of mechanical and maintenance repairs as expeditiously and cost effectively as possible to avoid work stoppages while maintaining safety.
  • Should have a good understanding of the operation of equipment and be able to determine problems and identify solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Remain in compliance with all safety and environmental regulations and best management practices as defined by company policy
  • Enforce and monitor all company safety policies
  • Observe workers and machines to detect errors or malfunctions and order corrective actions.
  • Inspect machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Schedule repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Plan and establish work schedules, assignments, and production sequences to meet production goals.
  • Demonstrate equipment operations and work and safety procedures to new employees, or assign employees to experienced workers for training.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve worker problems, complaints, or grievances.
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, job orders, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Maintain time, maintenance, and production records and reports.
  • Oversee and coordinate with the division manager plant scheduling for the following: overall production; container and debris loading; treatment systems operations including ordering of admixtures and disposals; and compliance testing and reporting.

  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and overall quality of product
