About The Position

The Compression Systems Engineering Team has an opening for a Design Engineer with a passion for aerospace work. This position will be part of the Tinker AFB Engine Life Management Team supporting the Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPT’s) responsible for Military Fan and High Compressor hardware. As a Design Engineer you be an integral part of this Team supporting the engine overhaul process and processing of compression systems hardware. This position is a key role within the CIPT as it provides a direct engineering link with our domestic and foreign military customers. You will be a part of the MRO-E aftermarket team conducting design assessments of fielded hardware, engage in aftermarket engineering activities, and interface with other disciplines including design, aero, and manufacturing. You will be responsible for the execution of design engineering standard work and communicating formally and informally with IPT and CIPT customers.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 5+ years of Mechanical Design engineering experience OR Advanced degree in an engineering field with 3+ years of experience
  • Experience with hardware and manufacturing methods.
  • US Citizenship is required due to government contracts.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.
  • Skilled in CAD, FEM, Matlab, and classical analysis methods.
  • Experience working in the Aerospace Industry (specifically gas turbine engines), component manufacturing and associated quality requirements.
  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills and the ability to function across a wide range of disciplines and management levels.
  • Possess strong communication, presentation, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • A working knowledge of ANSYS, P&W Quality Systems, configuration management process.

Responsibilities

  • Resolve complex mechanical engineering problems, ensuring engineering excellence and balanced system solutions.
  • Support a multi-disciplinary engineering IPT through sustainment phases of design activities, achieving IPT, CIPT and program customer driven requirements for durability, performance, and safety.
  • Build and maintain trust with customers by delivering robust technical solutions.
  • Collaborate with Customer Technical Support (CTS) team to address customer queries, review hardware, update maintenance manuals, and resolve field event root cause analyses.
  • Work with the onsite MRO representative of the CIPT supporting engine/hardware investigations and dispositions.
  • Support Operations and Engineering Support Teams to address production issues and facilitate timely engine delivery.
  • Continue to develop an improved personal understanding of the technologies, engine systems, business systems, regulations and business needs of the company and customers.
