About The Position

The practice of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is performed by radiologic technologists responsible for the use of radio frequencies (RF’s) within a magnetic field on humans of all ages (newborn to geriatric) for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. An MRI technologist performs MRI procedures utilizing MRI scanners and power injectors producing cross-sectional and 3D images at the request of and for interpretation by a licensed independent practitioner.

Requirements

  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists (ARRT) or Certification by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • ARRT-MRI
  • BLS
  • bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience. (Individuals with at least 6 years of experience can use this in lieu of the education requirement.
  • Team members who reached Clin III status prior to 7.1.2023 are exempt from this educational requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all the duties of an MRI Technologist II.
  • Capable of being a contributing member of quality improvement initiatives as assigned.
  • Expected to lead daily department huddles as assigned.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assist with examination protocol and policy review/revisions.
  • Expected to perform basic lead technologists' functions such as coordinating work assignments, workflow, and staffing for an assigned shift/area; serve as a clinical or technical resource; provide training.
  • Capable of performing the Dosimeter Badge coordinator duties. (Where applicable)
  • Capable of Initiating service calls and following up until issues are resolved.
  • Demonstrates the ability to participate in EOC rounding and TJC tracers alongside department leadership.
  • Capable of acting as a safety coach duty as they may be asked to serve on the committee.
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop and mentor other learners.
  • Expected to show initiative and contribute to successful modality operations.
  • Capable of recognizing excellence in coworker performance and does not participate in disruptive behavior.
  • Demonstrates the ability to initiate process improvement discussions with senior leaders.
  • Expected to anticipate the needs of patients and coworkers and works to proactively remove barriers to exceptional customer service and/or teamwork.
  • Capable of inventorying, ordering, and tracking unit supplies.
  • Expected to perform complex procedures as applicable to your primary area. This may include but is not limited to Elastography, Runoff of lower extremities, Brain Spectroscopy, Defecography, Whole Body, Breast, and Cardiac.
  • Capable of identifying and sending images to the Radiologists suitable for ACR submission.
  • Capable of completing Pacemaker and device workup.
  • Expected to perform the monthly MRI scanner Quality Assurance testing.
