About The Position

Under designated Section Leader, this position is accountable for performing Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures, which produce high quality diagnostic films. The role operates on a level not requiring constant supervision and involves a variety of MRI procedures, including, but not limited to, basic portable, fluoroscopy, extremity and chest x-rays, basic computer skills, biopsies, trauma alerts, core MRI protocols, MRI advanced level recons, Neurovascular MRA’s, IV skills, Q.A. maintenance, and sterile contrast studies acquired by the administration of radio-frequency waves and magnetic energy for therapeutic or research purposes. The technologist also assists the manager with the implementation of policy and procedures, participates in interdepartmental committees, and serves as a preceptor for the department. These procedures require independent judgement, ingenuity, and initiative when utilizing ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes. The position is also responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Requirements

  • Completion of 2-year program in Radiology Technology from an accredited school or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (AMRIT) Program.
  • Registered American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • MRI registry eligible.
  • American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (AMRIT) certified.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • One (1) year progressive responsibility in an MRI diagnostic imaging environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Magnetic Resonance Imaging procedures, which produce high quality diagnostic films.
  • Work on a level not requiring constant supervision.
  • Perform a variety of procedures for MRI, including, but not limited to, basic portable, fluoroscopy, extremity and chest x-rays, basic computer skills, biopsies, trauma alerts, core MRI protocols, MRI advanced level recons, Neurovascular MRA’s, IV skills, Q.A. maintenance, sterile contrast studies acquired by the administration of radio-frequency waves and magnetic energy to human for therapeutic or research purposes.
  • Assist manager with the implementation of policy and procedures.
  • Engage in interdepartmental committee involvement.
  • Act as a preceptor for the department.
  • Utilize independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative when utilizing ionizing radiation for diagnostic purposes.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
