Requirements

  • Current CPR certification
  • Graduate of an approved accredited program in either Radiologic Technology or Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
  • Registered by the ARRT (MR) or the American Registry of MRI Technologists (ARMRIT) OR Complete ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT (MR) within 27 months of job assignment.
  • Complete MR competency checklist within the first 90 days of job assignment.
  • Complete ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT (MR) certification within 2 years of competency checklist completion.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Proven competency to inject intravenous contrast agents.
  • Advanced knowledge of cross section anatomy.
  • Adequate clinical experience from an approved program.

Responsibilities

  • Independently perform all MRI procedures requested on a physician order promptly and proficiently.
  • Ensure all safety criteria are met to provide quality diagnostic images for interpretation.
  • Demonstrate respect, dignity, kindness and empathy in each encounter with all patients, families, visitors and other employees regardless of cultural background.
  • Perform all technical aspects of ordered MRI procedures.
  • Oversee and ensure patient, operator, and visitor safety throughout the procedure.
  • Utilize the pressure injector in a safe and correct manner.
  • Monitor and maintain patient safety.
  • Complete all proper consent forms prior to administration of contrast.
  • Document any current or previous reactions.
  • Maintain room and equipment cleanliness per standards of infection control guidelines.
  • Order supplies pertinent to the performance of MRI procedures.
  • Effectively utilize all necessary computer systems in compliance with HIPPA guidelines.
  • Follow the safety steps required to perform their duties and be in compliance with medical, state and federal safety standards.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriately.
  • Obtain and record all patient data as required by the medical center, state, JCAHO or other agencies.
  • Ensure proper charging of all procedures, coding, and modifiers are correct.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
