About The Position

This is a full-time MRI Technologist position located at West Hospital. The hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 5p-3:30a. Sign-on bonus available to eligible applicants! The role involves ensuring patient safety during MRI scans, including screening for ferromagnetic objects and implanted devices, and educating patients. The technologist will obtain IV access, prepare and administer contrast, and be prepared to respond to adverse events. Advanced knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and scanning protocols is required, with the ability to adjust protocols for diagnostic images. Routine quality control and equipment maintenance are also part of the role. Collaboration with radiologists and referring physicians, documentation in EMR, and assistance with minimally invasive procedures are expected. The position requires the ability to maneuver equipment and adapt positioning for patients with limited mobility.

Requirements

  • 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Requires advanced certification through one of the following: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists: Registered Technologist - Magnetic Resonance, RT(MR) ; or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT): Registered Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (RMRIT) , within 12 months of hire.
  • May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
  • May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.

  • MRI experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Possesses knowledge of MRI safety and safety zones.
  • Reviews patient history and screens for safety concerns (ferromagnetic objects, implanted devices, etc.).
  • Educates patients on what to expect and ensures they are safe and comfortable during their scan.
  • Obtains IV access, prepares and administers contrast and is familiar with recognizing and responding to adverse contrast events.
  • Ensures the MRI environment remains safe by screening all visitors and team members entering the MRI environment.
  • Displays knowledge of scanning protocols and adjusts to ensure diagnostic images.
  • Performs routine QC and ensures equipment is functioning properly.
  • Collaborates with radiologists and referring physicians.
  • Documents necessary information in EMR.
  • Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed.
  • Ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
