About The Position

Join UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital as a full-time MRI Technologist Specialist. This role is integral to hospital operations, serving as a resource to staff and ensuring high-quality care delivery while performing advanced imaging procedures. The Magee MRI Department specializes in women’s MRI imaging, utilizing a state-of-the-art Siemens Vida 3T MRI scanner. This position offers a dynamic, collaborative team environment that fosters mutual support, continuous learning, and patient-centered care, with opportunities for professional growth.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved AMA School of Radiologic technology.
  • 3 years of experience in MRI required.
  • ARRT MR or ARMRIT certified required.
  • ARRT Certificate OR American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) OR Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC) OR Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
  • CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all job responsibilities of MRI Technologist Advanced, including procedures, MR safety and patient safety in the department, and maintaining patient information.
  • Serves as a technical resource to Technologists on a daily basis, assisting with continuing education needs and training on new techniques, protocols, and software applications.
  • Responsible for offering remediation with Technologists, when necessary, and participates in staff annual performance reviews.
  • Responsible for Tech quality assurance program and their protocols alongside of or in place of the Lead MRI Tech, and assumes leadership role in training staff on new equipment.
  • When appropriate, creates and implements new training programs and/or assists with the startup of new offsite locations.
  • Attends advanced training sessions and seminars in order to maintain industry standards in imaging techniques, shares pertinent information with department, and assists with research studies, when applicable.
  • Assists with accreditation responsibilities and ensures that all quality control tests, safety standards, and procedures are conducted and documented.
