About The Position

The MRI Tech II possesses an advanced skill level and can function within the MRI department, performing a variety of responsibilities. In addition to meeting all criteria of MRI tech I, the MRI tech II performs two additional tasks within the department as laid out in the position summary. The MRI Technologist II must adapt to changes in technology, new imaging techniques, and safe and effective imaging practices for patients with and without medical implants. These implants include pacemakers, nerve stimulation devices and electronic pumps that can cause severe injury and or death within the MRI environment. This position requires independent judgement, a comprehensive knowledge of MRI physics, biological effects to human tissue, medical implants and the ability to enforce MRI safety. The candidate must possess inherent compassion for patients with claustrophobia and provide mechanisms to assist the patient in overcoming their discomfort. This position operates under the general supervision of the Radiologist and the MRI Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Graduate from school of Radiologic Technology approved by CAHEA/JRCT.
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), ARMRIT, or certified by the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • ARRT MRI Certification required.
  • For staff holding an ARRT license, advanced MRI specific certification by ARRT is required.
  • CE compliant according to governing body guidelines.
  • BLS certified.
  • Must be screened prior to hiring to ensure safety in the MRI work environment, as medical implants with components not permitted into the magnetic field may restrict an applicant.

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of MRI experience preferred.
