About The Position

This job performs prescribed radiographic imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Competently performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment and initiative. The MRI Technologist Chief will perform management responsibilities including hiring and termination decisions, coaching and development, rewards and recognition, performance management, and staff productivity. They will plan, organize, staff, direct, and control the day-to-day operations of the department, develop and implement policies and programs as necessary, and may have budgetary responsibility and authority. This role also acts as a mentor for new staff, uses technical expertise to improve staff performance, and assists in the management of human resources, staff/equipment schedules, payroll, and non-labor expenses and activities for the department. A key responsibility is maintaining a quality assurance program according to regulations established by regulatory bodies. The technologist will position patients and select accurate anatomic and technical parameters for independent MRI imaging per established protocols, prepare for and assist physicians during procedures, and prepare contrast media and/or medications within the accepted scope of practice. They will implement MRI safety and patient safety standards, provide technical expertise for protocol development, and implement and standardize imaging protocols in coordination with radiation physics and division directors. The Chief is responsible for maintaining safe MRI operation through adherence to policies and procedures, assessing the risk of implanted devices and other conditions, and collaborating with the MR Safety Expert and MR Medical Director to ensure safe procedures and accurate billing. Additionally, they will assure completion of all required documentation for quality control and equipment maintenance, procedures, regulatory compliance, billing, protocols, and image distribution, and maintain ACR certification and registries (if applicable). The role involves implementing and educating staff on all imaging institute policies, procedures, guidelines, and quality initiatives for the MRI modality.

Requirements

  • Minimum Associate’s degree; or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent education and experience.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (R)(MR), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT), or Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT)
  • 3 years as an MRI Technologist.
  • CPR – American Heart Association
  • Act 34 Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
  • Act 33 Child Abuse Clearance Certificate
  • Act 73 FBI Fingerprinting Criminal Background Clearance Certificate
