About The Position

WakeMed is hiring an MRI Technologist to join its imaging team. The technologist operates MRI equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images while providing exceptional patient care throughout the imaging process. The role works closely with physicians, patients, and fellow team members to provide safe, accurate, and efficient imaging services. The position is part of WakeMed Health & Hospitals, a community health services provider serving Wake County since 1961.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear Medicine.
• Hold a Registered Technologist in Radiography (RT) credential or a Nuclear Medicine credential, together with Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certification/registration, as specified in the licensure requirements.
• Demonstrate commitment to safe, accurate, high-quality patient care and strong attention to detail.
• Be a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills who demonstrates respect, compassion, accountability, and professionalism.

Nice To Haves

• Prior clinical radiology experience is preferred; at least one year of clinical radiology experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform MRI examinations and produce high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with physician orders and established protocols.
• Monitor patients’ safety, comfort, and condition throughout procedures, and report changes or concerns to the appropriate provider.
• Review patient records, verify imaging orders, prepare equipment, and prioritize workflow to support efficient operations.
• Accurately document imaging data and patient information in electronic systems as part of the official medical record.
• Explain procedures to patients and their families to help reduce anxiety and provide compassionate, patient-centered care.
