About The Position

The Chief MRI Technologist is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administrative duties of the section, including efficient workflow, budgetary policy compliance, quality diagnostic examinations, and compliance with applicable regulations, hospital and departmental policies, procedures, objectives, and philosophy. The role is accountable for patient throughput and provides 24-hour supervisory responsibility for the department and its staff, including scheduling, technical guidance, and performance improvement. The Chief Technologist also performs MRI technologist duties at a level that requires no supervision of technical details.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology/Diagnostic Imaging program.
Valid State of Florida license as a General Radiographer.
ARRT registration with certification in the primary modality.
CPR and BLS certification.
At least 5 years of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Perform all duties of Level I and Level II technologists.
Supervise imaging services, including performing or supervising tests and managing assigned personnel on a daily basis.
Assist with compiling statistical data for departmental evaluation.
Contribute to preparation of the annual departmental budget and development of administrative and operational policies, procedures, and regulations.
Hire, discipline, and promote department staff.
Review diagnostic orders for appropriateness to the requested examination and for special notes or comments.
Coordinate and manage scheduling and patient flow for interdepartmental procedures.
Collaborate in developing in-service training for departmental staff.
Complete yearly staff performance appraisals and handle requests for merit increases, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
Ensure efficient workflow, patient throughput, examination quality, and compliance with applicable regulations and departmental and hospital policies.
