About The Position

The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist I (MRI Tech I) provides health care services by assisting in diagnosis or treatment. Performs MRI procedures and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by or at the request of a licensed practitioner. Operates a magnetic resonance scanner to obtain images used in the diagnosis and treatment of patient pathologies. Uses knowledge of imaging techniques and cross-sectional anatomy to create high quality images for interpretation by radiologists and other medical professionals. Modifies technical settings and adjusts scanning parameters to enhance images and minimize unnecessary exposure.

Requirements

  • Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) accredited Radiology program or equivalent American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • American Heart Association BLS within 60 days of hire
  • Certified MRI Technician certification with 90 days of hire
  • Previous MRI experience

Responsibilities

  • Performs MRI exams and procedures as requested by the medical staff.
  • Assists the Radiologists and other medical staff during exams and procedures.
  • Performs ancillary duties as required to maintain proper distribution, billing, and archival of exams and procedures.
  • Completes documentation, in designated area, of all information required for proper interpretation, reporting, archiving, and retrieval of exams.
  • Retrieves prior images, studies, written orders, and related health information to insure the timely performance and reporting of MRI exams and procedures.
  • Performs routine inspections and maintenance on scanner and archives imaging data.
  • Participates in the implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the hospital quality indicators as described in the strategic plan.
