Assists patients in preparation for MRI exams, provides basic instructions, and transports patients between exam rooms and departments. This role also involves escorting patients, families, and visitors as needed. The assistant utilizes radiology computer systems for requisitions, scheduling, and patient information retrieval. Responsibilities include preparing and maintaining exam rooms, stocking supplies, and ensuring equipment readiness. The position also involves greeting patients and visitors, answering phones, screening calls, scheduling appointments, and taking messages. The assistant acts as a liaison between physicians, radiologists, and technologists, and is responsible for providing radiology reports and images upon request. Additional duties include filing, retrieving, and releasing health information, compiling records, and documenting patient observations. Routine maintenance and quality monitoring of imaging equipment are also part of the role, along with assisting in the screening and documentation of MRI implants. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan.
