About The Position

The MRI Aide will assist the Technologist with prepping patients for examinations, including welcoming and greeting patients, helping them change, and identifying and assisting with special needs such as wheelchair or hearing defects. The role involves transporting patients and aiding in their positioning for scans. Additionally, the MRI Aide will manage phone calls, coordinate patient flow with nursing units and the Emergency Department, access patient information from the hospital information system, input pharmacy charges for contrast, update chart notes, and scan paperwork. Responsibilities also include stocking supplies, linen, preparing rooms, and managing soiled utility. Under the technologist's direction, the MRI Aide will assist with MRI safety screening and radiation safety, including reviewing safety forms, surgical history, and device look-ups.

Requirements

  • High school graduate with patient experience or Medical Assistant certification.
  • Must meet MRI safety screening requirements to work within Zone 4 magnetic field.
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Technologist with prepping patient for examination.
  • Welcome and greet patients.

  • Aid the Technologist in positioning the patient for their scan.
  • Answer phone and coordinate patient flow with nursing units and the Emergency Department.
  • Access patient information from the hospital information system.
  • Input pharmacy charges for contrast.
  • Assist in updating chart notes and scanning in paperwork.
  • Stock supplies, linen and prepare room for next patient.
  • Pull full linen and garbage as needed and place in soiled utility.
  • Under the direction of the technologist, assist in MRI safety screening / radiation safety, including safety form review, surgical history and device look up.
