About The Position

Pennwood Products, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Moulder Assistant for their 1st shift operations. This role involves supporting the moulding production process by stacking, grading, and performing minor repairs on wood products. The position requires physical stamina due to the repetitive lifting of long and heavy boards. In addition to core duties, the assistant will contribute to maintaining a clean and organized work environment and assist with moulder setup during downtime. Opportunities exist to gain experience in other departments such as Rough Mill, Packing, Sanding, and operating a Resaw. Requirements

Must be able to read and understand Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and when appropriate, participate in modification of SOP to improve productivity and quality of product.
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Must be able to operate a palm/hand sander.
Ability to stack mouldings onto a cart.
Ability to grade each piece of moulding to the grading specs.
Ability to apply wood fill to affected moldings.
Ability to work in a high noise level environment and wear hearing protection.
Ability to stand for the entire shift.
Ability to wear eye protection at all times.

Nice To Haves

Experience with wood fill application.
Experience operating a hand sander.
Ability to assist with moulder set up.
Experience in Rough Mill, Packing Department, Sanding Department, or operating a Resaw.

Responsibilities

Stack mouldings onto a cart coming out of the moulder.
Grade each piece of moulding to the grading specs.
Apply wood fill to affected moldings during moulding production.
Operate a hand sander to buff out filler.
Perform additional duties during moulding downtime, including cleaning out of the moulder, cleaning of the departmental area, banding bunks of mouldings, and assisting with moulder set up.
When necessary, perform functions such as stacking in the Rough Mill, packaging in the Packing Department, operating the Resaw, catching moldings in the Sanding Department, and cleaning of production equipment in other departments.
