About The Position

Do you enjoy assisting a variety of people each day? Then consider applying for a Motor Vehicle Technician position with the Provo DMV office. You must be current on your state and federal tax filings and pass a FBI level criminal background check. Key responsibilities and day to day responsibilities of this position: Issue license plates, permits, registrations, certificates, etc. Receive, research and respond to incoming questions or complaints; provide information, explain policy and procedures, and/or facilitate a resolution. Process transactions at a Point of Sale system, give correct change and close cash drawer at the end of shift. Assist the public and others to complete forms, applications and other paperwork. Examine documents to verify applicability, legibility, completeness, accuracy, and/or consistency of information from one document to another, etc. Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, in writing and/or verbally; read and understand information presented in writing. Perform comprehensive physical inspection of motor vehicles to verify the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN).

Requirements

  • Must be current on state and federal tax filings.
  • Pass a FBI level criminal background check.
  • Experience in understanding processes and procedures and to apply those in day to day functions.
  • Experience with effectively communicating with a wide variety of people.
  • Experience in following laws and rules and handling customers tactfully and with professionalism.
  • Experience using computer programs in day to day functions.
  • Experience with attention to detail and accurately handling money.
  • Personal tax filings and vehicle registrations must be current and complete.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal history check.
