About The Position

This 310T Truck and Coach Mechanic position is responsible for carrying out all repairs and maintenance on a variety of vehicles, including urban transit coaches, specialized fleet, and support vehicles in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with approved policies. A Motor Vehicle Mechanic - Truck and Coach Technician inspects, repairs and maintains commercial trucks, emergency vehicles, buses, and road transport vehicles by performing work on structural, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems. Specifically, a Truck and Coach Technician inspects, repairs and maintains: electrical and electronic systems, engines including fuel, exhaust, intake, and emission controls, transmissions, clutches, drive shafts, and axles, body and trim, frames and hitching/coupling systems, steering, suspension, and computer control systems, tires, wheels, and hubs, braking systems including air supply and hydraulic, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, and refrigeration systems.

Requirements

  • Valid Class G driver’s licence with an acceptable driver’s abstract (no more than three (3) driving related convictions or an accumulation of no more than three (3) demerit points in the previous three (3) years prior to the date of hire), and/or no administrative driver license (ADLS) suspensions.
  • Valid 310T Truck and Coach Mechanics Certificate.
  • Ability in acquiring an Ontario “C” or “B” driver’s licence with “Z” air brake endorsement.
  • Complete set of hand tools and toolbox.
  • Competent in the use of diagnostic tools.
  • Ability to interpret wiring schematics.
  • Effectively follow written and verbal directions.
  • Ability to submit accurate/legible reports.
  • Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in repair and diagnoses of transit coaches, H.V.A.C. systems, electrical multiplex wiring, vehicle computer systems, fuel systems, auxiliary heating systems, ABS brake systems, engines, transmissions and hydraulics systems, welding and fabrication.
