About The Position

Under the general supervision of the District Maintenance Supervisor, this role performs routine maintenance checks and operates a variety of vehicles such as snowplows, trucks, tractors, mowers, and spreaders. Responsibilities include performing repairs on roadways, pavement, guardrails, sewers, bridges, and shoulders, as well as maintaining, cleaning, removing, and disposing of debris and other obstructions. The role also involves snow and ice removal using a snowplow and road deicer, operating tractor mowers and other equipment for grass and weed cutting within County rights-of-way, and performing tree and brush removal using chain saws, chippers, and various hand tools. Additionally, the position requires manually loading and unloading vehicles with materials and equipment, maintaining and storing equipment, and performing other duties as required. This position is considered safety-sensitive and requires successful completion of a drug test as part of the pre-employment background check.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development Test Certificate is required.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class "A" is required.
  • At least one (1) year of full-time work experience operating heavy road equipment requiring a Class “A” Driver’s License.
  • At least one season of snow plowing and ice removal on highways/roadways within the last five years is required.
  • Must be able to work rotating shifts to provide 24/7 coverage, including holidays.
  • Must pass a required drug test as part of the pre-employment background check process.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Maintains and stores equipment.
  • Performs other duties as required.
