About The Position

The Motor Tour Driver safely operates a commercial motor vehicle while transporting guests and conducting tours throughout Catalina Island. The role combines safe driving and adherence to transportation regulations with guided narration about local history, landmarks, and points of interest. Drivers provide a welcoming, engaging guest experience while following tour schedules and safety standards. A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger endorsement and a clean commercial driving record are required.

Requirements

• Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with passenger endorsement.
• Clean commercial driving record, subject to DMV and DOT review.
• Previous commercial driving or tour driving experience.
• Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills.
• Friendly, professional demeanor and strong customer-service focus.
• Ability to deliver commentary while driving passengers.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Comfort speaking to groups in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a commercial motor vehicle or bus in compliance with local, state, and federal transportation laws.
• Maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a clean commercial driving record.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Follow company safety policies and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
• Ensure passenger safety during boarding, transportation, and disembarking.
• Greet guests in a friendly and professional manner.
• Provide clear, engaging tour narration about local history, landmarks, and points of interest.
• Answer guest questions and provide recommendations when appropriate.
• Create a positive, courteous, and enjoyable experience for guests.
• Verify tickets, guest counts, and tour manifests.
• Maintain accurate driving logs, inspection reports, and incident documentation.
• Provide exemplary customer service.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
