About The Position

We are growing fast! Our THINK Financial team is looking to add an Underwriter to the team (our underwriters are called THINKers). This role is responsible for reviewing and verifying mortgage applications from the approval stage to the instruction stage. This includes ensuring the applications are acceptable as per THINK Financial guidelines, policies and procedures as well as AML/ATF guidelines. The ideal candidate is smart, detailed oriented, is client focused and keen to be a part of something great!

Requirements

Ability to work independently to solve problems but also be able to work as a team member with other THINK Underwriters and Closers as well as our partners the True North Mortgage Agents and Mortgage Insurance Partners
Fast paced environment, must be able to keep current with changes with lenders and the real estate market
History of delivering an extraordinary experience for your clients (internal and external) with a focus on results
Strong decision-making skills to convey solutions to areas of concern
Proven ability handling difficult situations and use of good judgement based on experience and knowledge
2-5 years previous Mortgage Underwriting experience
Intermediate MS Office tools such as Word, Excel, Outlook and Slack

Nice To Haves

Experience in the Mortgage or Real Estate Business an asset

Responsibilities

Review and verify the accuracy of mortgage application submissions using due diligence and in compliance with Internal Regulatory Guidelines and Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Guidelines.
Document clear and concise notes within the mortgage underwriting system
Provide timely and accurate credit decisions.
