About The Position

The Mortgage Manager is a strategic, detail-oriented leader responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the Bank's residential mortgage lending and loan servicing operations. This individual provides leadership across the entire mortgage lifecycle, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, data integrity, and an exceptional customer experience. The Mortgage Manager works closely with real estate lenders, referral partners, and internal stakeholders to identify growth opportunities, expand lending relationships, and increase the Bank's mortgage market share within its service area. This role is responsible for executing mortgage production strategies, monitoring market trends, and promoting business development for the Real Estate Loan Officer initiatives that strengthen the Bank's position in the marketplace. The Mortgage Manager also leads process improvement efforts, monitors portfolio performance, and fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the mortgage operation. This position is located in Orange City, Iowa.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, or related field.
Experience of 5+ years in banking or related occupation

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and oversee the Bank's residential mortgage lending and loan servicing operations.
Provide leadership across the entire mortgage lifecycle, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, data integrity, and an exceptional customer experience.
Work closely with real estate lenders, referral partners, and internal stakeholders to identify growth opportunities, expand lending relationships, and increase the Bank's mortgage market share.
Execute mortgage production strategies, monitor market trends, and promote business development for Real Estate Loan Officer initiatives.
Lead process improvement efforts and monitor portfolio performance.
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement throughout the mortgage operation.
Maintain a thorough understanding of the mortgage industry, including current market conditions, economic trends, interest rate environments, fee structures, regulatory developments, and competitive factors, using this knowledge to identify new business opportunities, drive strategic growth initiatives, and increase market share.
Work closely with Real Estate Loan Officers to aid effectively structuring loans, ensure loan quality standards - including quality of borrowers, complete loan applications, pipeline management, ethical behavior, and relationships with Bank and Loan Support associates.
Lead and manage mortgage processing staff to achieve production deadlines, efficiencies, and operational excellence throughout the transaction process.
Partner with location managers and Regional Presidents to support branch goals with trained Real Estate Loan Officers that provide excellent customer service for their market and promote performance expectations and professional development.
Train new mortgage staff; foster a team-oriented work environment that inspires staff to maximize their potential; and maintain performance of mortgage team with continual guidance and support of additional information or training.
Actively participate in local and state networking events to cultivate productive relationships for the bank (i.e. banking, realtor, and builder trade associations), build and maintain with the loan officer a strong relationship with referral and community partners.
Maintain relationships with and have excellent working knowledge of all secondary market products; effectively communicate and train Real Estate Loan Officers on changes.
Analyze and approve department reports and complete certifications with third-party partners.
Ensure compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and regulatory laws and policies, and internal operating policies, procedures, and audit standards.
Participate in setting bank-wide mortgage goals within the strategic goals of the bank, and communicating mortgage performance results by providing loan reports, to Regional Presidents, Branch Managers, and mortgage department staff.
Collaborate with Regional Presidents and Human Resources to evaluate staffing and recruitment to help target expanded regional territories with additional Real Estate lenders for growth opportunities.
Maintain and establish relationships and required paperwork with applicable vendors.
Routinely review applicable real estate and mortgage policies and procedures.
Collaborate with marketing to create department marketing and production plans.
Approve mortgage loan requests within the bank’s risk tolerance.
Provide input to senior management to improve residential mortgage services for the benefit of the customer and financial institution.
Be flexible and knowledgeable enough in all stages of the mortgage process to maintain an efficient and continual flow of mortgage operations.
