About The Position

First Federal Bank of Kansas City is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Mortgage Loan Processor to join their team. This hybrid role involves guiding customers through the home loan journey, ensuring mortgage loans move smoothly from application to closing. The position requires working in the office at the corporate headquarters in Leawood on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, with the ability to work from home on Mondays and Fridays. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 2 - 5 years of mortgage or financial institution experience, especially loan processing or tracking.
  • Knowledge of FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, and VA guidelines.
  • Strong communication skills - both written and verbal.
  • Solid math skills with the ability to calculate interest, payments, and percentages.
  • Ability to manage multiple files and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with loan systems (Encompass experience is a plus).
  • Typing speed of at least 45 WPM and general word processing skills.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews residential loan applications for completeness, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Ensures all required disclosures are properly signed and documented.
  • Orders and tracks key items like credit reports, appraisals, title work, and verifications.
  • Communicates with employers, financial institutions, landlords, and borrowers to gather needed information.
  • Prepares complete loan files for underwriting, including documentation such as 1003s, 1008s, and PMI applications.
  • Evaluates loan files against FNMA/FHLMC, FHA, and VA guidelines.
  • Works closely with loan officers, underwriters, and closers to keep loans on track.
  • Answers questions and provides updates to borrowers, Realtors, and internal team members.
  • Ensures all conditions are met prior to closing.
  • Promotes and delivers quality internal and external customer service.
  • Complies with all applicable banking laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, USA Patriot Act, and related anti-money laundering statutes; and, federal consumer protection legislation and regulations.
