About The Position

First State Bank is seeking a Mortgage Loan Processor to join our team at our Chesterfield Mortgage office. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring 40 hours per week. The role involves the accurate and complete setup of mortgage loan application files, including ordering vendor services, uploading documentation, and updating the mortgage loan origination system. The Mortgage Loan Processor will handle all processing functions for residential mortgage lending, covering conventional, government, and home equity lines of credit. This position requires adherence to all policies and procedures set forth by First State Bank and compliance with various regulatory guidelines.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Knowledge of mortgage lending disclosures and the Encompass System is required.
  • Two to three years related experience and/or training required.
  • Basic knowledge of loan processing procedures and loan documentation for real estate.
  • Basic knowledge of underwriting guidelines for conventional and government loans.
  • Previous experience with automated underwriting systems (DU/LP/GUS) required.
  • Must be able to work independently and make decisions as needed within the established authority of the position.
  • Must be able to work at a reasonable fast pace and meet production goals on a consistent basis.
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects while meeting various time schedules and deadlines.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate verbally and in written form with customers, service providers, officers, and others involved in the lending process.
  • Completion of a background check and drug testing as a condition of employment.

  • Four to five years related experience and/or training preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurate and complete set up of mortgage loan application files.
  • Ordering vendor services including appraisals and title work.
  • Uploading documentation to the appropriate E folders.
  • Updating the mortgage loan origination system.
  • Performing all processing functions of residential mortgage lending.
  • Reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with all Regulatory Guidelines (Truth-In-Lending, Regulation Z, Regulation B, HMDA, RESPA).
  • Reviewing loan origination system for data integrity, and all credit and appraisal documents to ensure investor agency guidelines are met.
  • Maintaining an open line of communication with residential mortgage lenders, borrowers, realtors, title companies, and all other parties involved in the transaction.
  • Revising the file for all necessary documents (e.g., W-2s for the previous two years, paystubs for 30 days, two months' bank statements) and entering data into the loan origination system for file receipt date.
  • Ordering appraisals, title work, transcripts, homeowner’s insurance, flood certification, drive report, and FHA Case Number or VA Case Assignment if applicable.
  • Running AUS (if not already done by the Residential Mortgage Lender) and LDP/GSA.
  • Attending pipeline meetings with the Residential Mortgage Lender when necessary and updating them with the status of the loans.
  • Preparing all applicable processing documents as necessary for loan program.
  • Completing all required compliance training and complying with the Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering Act, as well as all applicable regulations.
