Requirements

  • One year to three years of similar or related experience.
  • Equivalent to a two-year college degree or completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school.
  • A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary and often requires the ability to influence and/or sell ideas or services to others.
  • Must have good communication skills.
  • Ten key calculator, typewriter and keyboard skills.
  • Must be able to use Microsoft software and navigate the Internet.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands, and is required to talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and walk occasionally for long periods at a time.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to reach with hands and arms and move objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • In addition, abilities for assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist members and all parties involved in the loan process by ensuring all parties are well informed and the loan package is complete and sent to closing in a timely manner.
  • Reviews residential loan application files to verify that application data is complete and meets credit union standards; recommends that loans not meeting standards be reviewed or denied.
  • Calls specified companies to obtain property title commitment, and flood certification and informs supervisor of discrepancies in loan documents.
  • Prepares and submits 1st mortgage and home equity loan application files for underwriting approval once the file is complete and ready to be given to the mortgage loan closer.
  • Remains informed of current underwriting guidelines and documentation requirements for all 1st mortgage and home equity loan products.
  • Responsible for ongoing member contact, requesting documentation and coordinating closing efforts.
  • Keeps the loan originator and all others involved aware of loan status.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory programs including but not limited to the Bank Secrecy Act, Office of Foreign Asset Control Program and Customer Identification Program.
  • Assist other department personnel and performs other duties as assigned.
  • Remote employees must adhere to their agreed-upon work schedule from a secure location, participating in virtual meetings, video conferences/other communications, and maintaining regular, responsive communication during working hours.
  • Produce loan documents, reports, and new accounts in a timely fashion, with zero errors.
  • Compile and prepare files for underwriting, complying with all secondary market guidelines while keeping a detailed record of progress on each file.
  • Follow up on necessary documents on a daily basis; appraisals, title work, member documentation, etc.
  • Process loans to close within an acceptable time frame, to meet annual department goals.
  • Cross sell credit union products and services.
  • Maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all mortgage products and rates, both within the Credit Union and from the industry as a whole.
  • Completes required annual mortgage compliance curriculum with a passing grade of 80% or higher.
  • Completes required Red Flags Program requirements to include documentation of discrepancy resolution as needed.
  • Must pass registration based on the SAFE Act requirements or already be registered.
