About The Position

Liberty FCU, a full-service credit union, is currently seeking a Mortgage Loan Closer to join the Mortgage Team. The candidate must possess excellent member service skills with attention to detail, accuracy, and compliance while performing in the position. Candidates must be available to work Saturdays on a rotating basis.

  • Working knowledge of credit union mortgage products (purchase money 1st mortgages, 1st mortgage refinances, 2nd mortgages, HELOCs, bridge loans, government and construction loans)
  • Understanding of federal regulations associated with mortgage loans
  • Ability to perform notary services
  • Working knowledge of the credit union's data processing system, loan origination system, Word, and EXCEL software
  • Understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures

Responsibilities

  • Close mortgage loans: Establish date and time with member, coordinate closing times with title companies and originators for purchase loans, review all documents with members and obtain signatures where required, and close mortgage loans in office for specific mortgage loan programs.
  • Clear closing conditions: Order payoffs for existing liens being paid off for the closing, prepare name, property, hold harmless, judgment, and occupancy affidavits, obtain releases on previous liens, and complete verbal verifications of employment.
  • Prepare Closing Disclosure settlement figures.
  • Obtain homeowners insurance verification.
  • Review closing figures with members prior to closing.
  • Review all loan documents prior to closing for accuracy.
  • Cross sell credit union products and services.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all credit union mortgage products including purchase money 1st mortgages, 1st mortgage refinances, 2nd mortgages, HELOCs, bridge loans, government and construction loans.
  • Understand and apply federal regulations associated with mortgage loans.
  • Perform notary services.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the credit union's data processing system, loan origination system, Word, and EXCEL software.
  • Develop an understanding of credit union history, philosophy, organization, bylaws, and operational procedures.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisors or management.
