The Mortgage Default/Bankruptcy Specialist primarily contacts delinquent mortgage loan account holders, whether the loans are held in the credit union’s portfolio or sold to the secondary market. The role follows each investor’s servicing guidelines to provide effective loss mitigation solutions and report delinquencies accurately and promptly. Additional collection responsibilities include delinquent loans, Visa accounts, and negative balance accounts in support of the Account Management Team. The role requires an organized, highly motivated, detail-oriented individual with knowledge of credit union and/or mortgage operations. The specialist must follow detailed instructions, navigate investor and insurance portals, exercise sound judgment, communicate effectively in writing and orally, and work with minimal supervision. Excel and Word skills are required. Lending and collection knowledge are a plus, and prior mortgage servicing experience is preferred. The specialist must be able to prepare and complete delinquency documentation, perform mathematical computations, meet reporting deadlines, and represent the credit union professionally. Physical requirements include clear and effective communication, viewing a terminal screen, operating a computer keyboard, and sitting and standing for prolonged periods.
