About The Position

The mortgage closer is responsible for finalizing the mortgage loans. Their primary duties include reviewing loan data, preparing closing documents, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and coordinating with various parties involved in the transaction to ensure the documentation is complete and accurate.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of mortgage banking industry basic lending, real estate contracts, titles, and language.
  • Knowledge of State & Federal Regulatory Requirements, including TRID.
  • Minimum 2 years of Current Experience as a Mortgage Closer preferred.
  • Must be highly flexible and able to work overtime as needed during times of high volume.
  • Experience utilizing Loan Origination Systems (LOS) – Encompass preferred and Document Prep Software, such as Encompass Docs or DocMagic.
  • Overall computer proficiency required and knowledge & experience utilizing MS Word, Excel and Outlook Mail.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to follow established processes and procedures.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and ability to efficiently and consistently produce accurate closing documents.
  • Must be highly organized and able to multi-task while working in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with heavy loan volume.
  • Must be able to prioritize work and have excellent problem-solving skills, sound judgment and ability to make decisions within established departmental & CU written policy and procedures.
  • Must be a proactive and self-directed individual with a positive attitude who works well both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to provide superior customer service to our Members, Brokers, Settlement Agents and Vendor Partners.
  • All positions must adhere to standard BSA/AML policies, procedures, and processes. Employees must demonstrate awareness of business functions and how business decisions affect financial and/or non-financial work results.

  • Credit Union experience is a plus.
  • Fiserv DNA experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage closing loan pipeline comprised of loans that are cleared to close and ready for closing documents to be prepared.
  • Ability to close all loan product types including first mortgages, HELOCS, and HE-Loans in accordance with State and Federal Regulatory requirements.
  • Schedule and coordinate timely loan closings - working with all interested parties including Settlement Agents, Broker Partners & Borrowers.
  • Closely examine all loan data and ensure accuracy of all information relating to but not limited to fees, property information, borrower information, title report, vesting info, etc.
  • Ensure the complete and timely preparation of Closing Disclosures.
  • Prepare the Initial Closing Disclosure and notify all borrowers and title holders that the Initial CD has been sent and ensure all required parties have acknowledged receipt.
  • Prepare and verify wire requests
  • Review all third-party invoices (and obtain any that are missing) and confirm they match those fees displayed on the final CD.
  • Ensure that all Doc conditions have been signed off on by underwriting and that all closing conditions have been reviewed and listed on closing instructions.
  • Perform QC on other Closer/Team Members closing doc packages as needed.
  • Review wiring instructions, confirm accuracy with Escrow Agent.
  • Calculate funding amounts for each loan and balance with Escrow Agent.
  • Review and confirm final funding conditions to confirm requirements have been met and either sign off or follow up with outstanding condition if not satisfied.
  • Ensure all loans close and fund on time and in adherence to USALLIANCE Policy & Procedures and follow all State and Federal regulations.
  • Respond to member inquiries via email and phone calls.
  • Other duties as assigned.
