About The Position

This is a full-time, school-year position (40 hours per week) for a Montessori Lead Toddler Teacher responsible for the social and emotional growth of children aged 18 months to 36 months. The role involves supporting assistant teachers, planning curriculum, maintaining licensing regulations, communicating with parents, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment. The position reports directly to the TCAPS Montessori Principal.

Requirements

Must be at least 21 years of age per MiLEAP Child Care Licensing regulations.
Must have current First Aid and infant, child, and adult CPR training, or willingness to obtain at next available offering.
Willingness to complete up to 16.0 clock hours of professional development training per calendar year.
Transcripts documenting educational background must be uploaded with application prior to submission.
Must be able to report on a regular and consistent basis.
Maintain consistent and punctual attendance.
Duties include frequent walking and physical activity, as well as use of hands and arms for signaling and light lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds.
Ability to move about the classroom/building and school property, including sitting on the floor, bending, pushing/pulling, lifting, twisting, climbing, stooping, or crouching.
Ability to listen and effectively orally communicate information and ideas to a diverse population.
Ability to communicate and work effectively with children, parents, colleagues, administrative staff and community members.
Ability to effectively discern information and formulate appropriate action(s).
Ability to critically think and provide appropriate solutions.
Ability to work effectively and efficiently.
The individual selected for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check.

Nice To Haves

Valid Montessori Credential Or willingness to complete a valid Montessori Credential program is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in a child related field preferred - equivalent MiLEAP Child Care Licensing Program Administrator Credentials considered upon district discretion.
Willingness to obtain 3 semester hours, 4.5 CEUs or 45 hours of MiRegistry approved infant and toddler development and care practices within 6 months of hire.
Demonstrated experience in child development and/or previous childcare experience.

Responsibilities

Develop positive relationships with children, parents, staff members, administration, and community members.
Support and reinforce the goals of the Montessori program, including curriculum planning and assessments.
Assist Licensed Childcare Director in maintaining MiLEAP Child Care Licensing regulations.
Participate in staff-development and professional development activities.
Meet periodically with parents to discuss children's progress and conduct parent-teacher conferences.
Maintain confidentiality of student and family records.
Carry out educational and recreational activities, both indoor and outdoor.
Provide diapering and toileting assistance.
Assist in maintaining a clean and safe facility/playground.
Attend building-level and district-level meetings as requested.
Participate in IEPs as requested.
Implement and enforce TCAPS District and building-level safety standards and behavior management techniques.
Administer children’s medication and First Aid as needed, and complete necessary documentation.
Other duties as assigned.
