About The Position

At Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals, patients receive acute care from a physician-led care team specializing in complex conditions. The Monitor Technician monitors patients’ heart rhythms using telemetry equipment, reviewing patient information to determine normal patterns, current rhythms, and prior variances. The technician observes cardiac monitor screens and listens for alarms to identify abnormal heart rhythm changes and promptly notify the RN or supervisor.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, including education equivalent to completion of secondary school, or demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of the role.
• Current BLS certification.
• No prior experience required.
• Must read, write, and speak fluent English.
• Must have good and regular attendance.
• Satisfactory score on an EKG interpretation competency test.
• Ability to accurately identify cardiac rhythms and understand their significance.

Nice To Haves

• EKG certification.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patients’ telemetry for changes in cardiac rhythms.
• Remove and clean telemetry boxes when patients are discharged from telemetry.
• Maintain accurate records of telemetry patients.
• Immediately notify the RN or supervisor of rhythm changes.
• Assign transmitters and wires and set up the monitor system for patients with telemetry orders.
• Troubleshoot transmitters and wires and the monitor system.
• Stay abreast of applicable federal, state, and local food safety and sanitation regulations.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
