About The Position

The Monitor Technician observes electrocardiogram (ECG) and closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitors and alerts nurses and physicians to changes in patients’ rates and rhythms and to the occurrence of arrhythmias. The role includes recognizing and documenting arrhythmias, communicating findings to the responsible nurse, maintaining monitoring equipment, obtaining EKGs as needed, and checking emergency equipment. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 0–1 years of technical experience.

Responsibilities

• Observe cardiac and closed-circuit television (CCTV) monitors on patients.
• Recognize arrhythmias and obtain a documentary strip.
• Report all arrhythmias to the nurse responsible for the patient.
• Obtain a baseline strip each shift on all monitored patients.
• Replace electrode pads, wires, and batteries as needed.
• Obtain EKGs as necessary.
• Ensure emergency equipment is cleaned and checked.
• Perform related duties as required.
